The Dream Journal

The sunshine burnt through the blinds causing her to squint and rub at her eyes, her eyeliner left on from the night before staining her hands.
Dread filled her stomach as she stared at the man laying beside her… the man that was meant to be her other half.
‘YOU ABSOLUTE IDIOT!’ she screamed, slamming her hands down on his bare chest as hard as she could. ‘HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO ME?!?!?!’ Tears ran down her cheeks as he jumped out of bed.
‘What are you talking about?’ he questioned.
‘DON’T PLAY DUMB WITH ME… YOU CHEATED ON ME!!’ she all but screamed.
Uhh… babe. I think you’ve had a bad dream…

There have been way too many times that I’ve woken up in the morning (or the middle of the night) feeling like crying, shaking, sweating all because of a dream that MY OWN imagination conjured up!!

Recently, i’ve been having a lot more vivid dreams than usual and it just so happened that I watched one of Zoella’s videos that features this book in it!

  This is the ‘Dream Journal.’
I fell in love with the concept of this as soon as I saw it. This little Journal has all of the sections in it that you need to keep track of all of your dreams (or nightmares!)

I hear you… ‘Kirsty, why not just write it down on a piece of paper? OR Just buy a blank book, name it the dream journal and write it all down in there?’ Well… That would just be boring, wouldn’t it?

I keep this book by the side of my bed so that if I wake up in the middle of the night, I can jot down everything that happened in my dreams. (Saying that, I haven’t ACTUALLY written anything in it yet because all my dreams so to be disappearing now i’ve finally bought this!)

This book includes a large section for the ‘record.’ What happened? Who was in it? What was the STORYLINE!?
I do think that small handwriting is needed for this as I don’t think there is anywhere near enough room for the amount of detail that my dreams go into!

There is then a small section with tick boxes (i love this idea) that asks you to chose what emotion the dream conveyed! Have you dreamt it before? I love the ‘Once was enough, thanks’ for all of those dreams where your boyfriend/girlfriend has been a cheating b*****d :)

My favourite part of this book is the ‘sketch’ section. Draw it! Now, for those of you that are like me (terrible at all things art!) this is quite a fun section as I love the idea of trying to doodle the people in your dream. Doodle it, sketch it, go all out and draw portraits and colour it! The page is yours!

The final section is your reflection. Why do you think you dreamt this? Did you eat cheese before bed? Did you Facebook stalk that person you don’t like and then had a dream that they stole your man?

I always wake up and think ‘I wonder if I dreamt that because I saw a Facebook status before I went to sleep!’ so I think this section is really interesting to try and work out why you dream what you dream!

I absolutely love this idea for a book.
It had been sold out for SO long after appearing on Zoe’s video so I’m super happy that I managed to grab one once they came back into stock!

What do you think of the Dream Journal? Would you buy one? Or do you think it’s much easier to just create your own?

Lots of love.

  1. I used to have the Jacqueline Wilson dream journal when I was about 8/9 but now find it so embarrassing that I can't bear to record my dreams again! It is such a good idea though x

  2. I have the same dream journal lol! I got it last year. It's really interesting reading dreams from months ago because you forget about the dreams you've had, but once you start reading it all comes back to you and you remember lol I think dream journals are an awesome idea! :) x
